Funding for CPC's planned investment in an Alaska natural gas project

remains undecided.

Funding for the CPC Corporation's planned investment in an Alaska natural gas
project remains undecided.

Budget chief Chen Shu-tzu (陳淑姿) says negotiations are continuing, and
financing will depend on the state-owned company's financial structure.

The state-owned refiner plans to buy six million metric tons of liquefied
natural gas a year and invest up to 4.4 billion U.S. dollars in the project.

Deliveries could begin as early as 2032, if development stays on schedule.

Chen says a separate proposal to inject 233.8 billion N.T. into CPC is not
intended to fund the Alaska investment.

That support is aimed at easing financial pressure from absorbing higher
energy costs to keep domestic prices stable.

She warns that failing to approve the supplementary budget could hamper CPC's
borrowing and threaten oil supplies.
