China has criticized a U-S ban on the A-I startup DeepSeek in federal civilian agencies, as the two countries continue to compete over technology.
The U-S Department of Homeland Security has ordered civilian agencies to remove DeepSeek products from their computer systems, citing concerns that Chinese authorities could access sensitive data.
The order was detailed in a notice issued in July and made public in the Federal Register on Monday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Tuesday that Beijing would protect the legitimate rights of Chinese companies.
The dispute comes despite recent progress in U-S-China discussions on A-I governance.
Washington also continues to restrict China's access to the world's most advanced A-I chips.
