Mpox cases are on the rise again in Taiwan ... with 18 infections reported so far this month, the highest monthly total in two years.
The Centers for Disease Control says most of the new patients are in their 20s to 40s, and very few had previously been vaccinated against mpox.
Health officials warn that the number of infections this month could reach nearly three times this year's monthly average.
The C-D-C is urging people at higher risk of infection to get vaccinated, which it says remains the most effective way to prevent the disease.
The World Health Organization considers the risk to the general public low, but says people engaging in higher-risk sexual activity face a moderate risk.
