Kaohsiung Completes Flood Preparations Ahead of Typhoon Champi

Kaohsiung officials say the city is ready for possible flooding as Typhoon
Champi approaches Taiwan.

The city's Water Resources Bureau says the storm's outer circulation could
bring heavy rain and strong winds, with the greatest impact expected this
Friday and Saturday.

The bureau says all pumping stations, mobile pumps and flood detention ponds
have been inspected and tested.

Drainage channels have also been cleared, while emergency crews and flood
prevention supplies are on standby.

Officials say they will closely monitor rainfall and water levels ... and
urge residents in low-lying areas to prepare sandbags or flood barriers and
follow the latest weather updates.
