Chinese coast guard ships enter restricted waters near Dongsha: CGA
Posted on 2026-10-17 13:07:13
Two Chinese coast guard vessels entered restricted waters around
Taiwan-controlled Dongsha Atoll yesterday, prompting Taiwan's Coast Guard
Administration to deploy vessels to monitor them and order them to leave.

The confrontation was still active at the time the statement was released.

The CGA says it has conducted 11 operations so far this year to expel Chinese
coast guard ships from waters around Dongsha, involving 14 vessel encounters.

According to the CGA's Dongsha-Nansha Branch, Taiwan has sovereignty over
Dongsha Atoll and its surrounding waters, adding that it will take all
necessary measures to defend Taiwan's national sovereignty and maritime
security.
