Trump puts Russia sanctions on hold

President Trump has signed an executive order that puts on hold a sweeping
new sanctions package targeting the Russian economy.

Trump says the pause is in the national interest.

Named after late South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, the sanctions package
had sought to clamp down more quickly on the flow of financial resources
fueling Russia's war against Ukraine.

The executive order comes a week after Trump stunned observers by announcing
that the US had agreed to purchase diesel from Russia to try to bring down
energy prices -- a move that will likely hurt Ukraine.
