New Taipei City council candidate Talud, also known as "忠仁.達祿斯", has been released on 80-thosuand NT bail and placed under house arrest over allegations of vote-buying.
The New Taipei District Prosecutors Office says Talud hosted banquets for voters in March, involving around 18 tables at 5-thosuand NT each.
Prosecutors have searched locations and questioned 20 witnesses as part of the investigation.
Talud previously served as a councilor in Taipei County and later New Taipei City.
However, he was removed from office and stripped of his civil rights in 2021 after being convicted of preparing to offer a bribe.
He is now running as an independent candidate in New Taipei City's 12th electoral district, which represents lowland Indigenous people.
