A Thai influencer's TikTok videos helped Taiwan's immigration authorities track down 20 Thai nationals who had overstayed their visas and five people suspected of illegally employing them.
The National Immigration Agency says the influencer was working illegally at a remote farm in Kaohsiung and posting videos of her work and daily life.
She also used the videos to recruit other Thai nationals, with one clip attracting more than 100-thousand views.
Investigators used clues in the footage to identify the farm, despite its secluded location, before carrying out arrests.
The agency says employers who illegally hire foreign workers face fines of up to 750-thousand NT.
Those who do so for profit can also face a prison sentence of up to three years, as well as fines of up to $1.2 million NT.
