The Ministry of National Defense says it's closely monitoring China's
Liaoning aircraft carrier group ... which has entered the western Pacific,
raising concern among countries in the region.

The ministry says it has been tracking the carrier group's movements and
accuses Beijing of using propaganda to expand its cognitive warfare efforts
... calling such actions harmful to regional stability.

It also says it's watching for the possibility of large-scale Chinese
military exercises around Taiwan, as the traditional peak season for People's
Liberation Army drills approaches in November and December.

China staged its first large-scale exercises encircling Taiwan in 2022,
following then-U-S House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to the island ...

... and has held similar drills every year since 2023, although none have
taken place so far this year.

The MND says Taiwan's military will remain on high alert and take appropriate
measures in response to China's activities.

China's Defense Ministry, meanwhile, says the Liaoning group's deployment is
part of routine training and is not directed at any particular country or
target.
