Taipei red panda settles into Singapore Zoo
Posted on 2026-10-12 17:07:13
A red panda from Taipei Zoo is settling well into his new home in Singapore.

Chi-Chi (奇奇), also known as Yaffa, moved to Singapore Zoo in June as part of
an international conservation program.

A keeper tells CNA he is eating and sleeping well, exploring his surroundings
and staying active.

Now on public display, he is also drawing visitors who have followed news of
his move.

Taipei Zoo says transfers between zoos help maintain genetic diversity and
reduce the risk of inbreeding among endangered red pandas.

The two zoos also hope to support healthy breeding through cooperation in
animal care and conservation research.
