Kagan and Soai Win Nobel Prize in Chemistry
Posted on 2026-10-07 19:06:13
Henri B. Kagan of France and Kenso Soai of Japan have won the Nobel Prize in
chemistry for solving a mystery involving mirror-image molecules.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the award in Stockholm on
Wednesday.
Nobel Committee for Chemistry chair Heiner Linke praised their work as
spectacular.
Kagan is 95, while Soai is known for his research into how molecules can
develop mirror-image forms.
Last year's chemistry Nobel went to scientists who developed molecular
structures capable of trapping gases.
The Nobel Prize announcements began with medicine on Monday and physics on
Tuesday.
The literature prize is due tomorrow ... followed by the peace and economics
prizes.
