The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Taipei is calling for improvements to Taiwan's business environment.
Its 2026 white paper, released today, identifies major challenges facing Japanese companies such as untransparent administrative procedures ... regulations that differ from international standards .... and shortages of talent and electricity.
The chamber also says difficulties securing industrial land are major obstacles to developing new facilities.
National Development Council Minister Yeh Chun-hsien (葉俊顯) says the government has made progress over the past year ... including simplifying electricity licensing procedures and strengthening the power grid.
He says Taiwan has also expanded tax incentives for investment in AI and cybersecurity ... while taking steps to attract more international talent.
Yeh hopes the chamber will encourage the Japanese government to support a bilateral trade agreement with Taiwan ... creating more investment opportunities for Japanese companies.
