Taiwan's flu outbreak remains at epidemic levels, with the number of severe cases and deaths reaching record highs.
According to the Center for Disease Control, 219 new severe flu cases and 44 deaths were reported between September 29th and October 5th.
A total of one million people have received flu shots so far, up 2.4 percent compared with the same period last year, and the biggest increase is among people aged 65 and older.
Currently people aged 65 and older, and Indigenous people aged 55 to 64, as well as Children aged 6 months through high school are eligible for publicly-funded flu shots.
