Independent meteorologist Daniel Wu says a northeasterly monsoon is forecast to strengthen and will result in the mercury in some low-lying areas dropping to as low as 16-degrees from today until Friday.
The northeasterly monsoon will also bring rain to parts of the island.
The Central Weather Administration has issued rain advisories.
Heavy rain or extremely heavy rain warnings are in effect for mountainous areas of Taipei.
While heavy rain warnings have been issued for Keelung City, the North Coasta area, mountainous parts of New Taipei, Yilan, the Hengchun Peninsula and Orchid Island.
All of those rain advisories are currently in effect through late this morning.
