Taipei City Police Commissioner Lin Yen-tien says six officers have been disciplined for misconduct after a raid on a gay bar in the Ximending area.
Lin says four of the officers were found to have used inappropriate language during the raid and each received two reprimands, while the lead investigator at the scene was given a demerit for failing to promptly stop the remarks.
The police commissioner also says Wanhua Precinct chief has also received two reprimands over inadequate supervision and that the request was approved.
The raid took place on Saturday evening.
Gender equality group have claimed police used excessive force, violated procedures, and made discriminatory and degrading remarks toward people with disabilities.
However, the police commissioner says the raid was lawful and conducted under a court-issued search warrant in response to reports of suspected violations of public morality.
Lin said the venue had been the subject of 13 complaints this year alleging activities that violated public decency.
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an says the incident was regrettable and any misconduct during law enforcement will be thoroughly reviewed and police discipline would be strengthened.
