The Taipei District Prosecutors Office has indicted an e-commerce company and 25 people over an alleged investment fraud scheme worth more than 219 million NT.
It says Farxun E-commerce promoted investments in electric vehicle chargers, promising investors a guaranteed annual return of more than 14 percent.
Investors were told they could buy a charger for 300-thousand NT and receive monthly returns, with the company also promising to buy back the chargers after three years.
Prosecutors say fewer than 200 chargers were actually installed in 2024, while the company continued soliciting money for more.
They allege some of the funds were instead used to pay earlier investors and sales bonuses.
The company's CEO, surnamed Hsieh (謝), faces charges including aggravated fraud and money laundering.
Prosecutors are seeking a prison sentence of more than 16 years for Hsieh.
