Posted on 2026-10-01 06:57:13
Smoking will be banned in Taipei's Xinyi Shopping District near the M-R-T's
Taipei City Hall station from November 1.

Violators will face fines of up to 10,000 N-T after a one-month grace period
starting from today.

The Taipei Department of Health says the new non-smoking areas extends east
to Songren Road, west to Keelung Road Section 1, south to Songgao Road and
north to Zhongxiao East Road Section 5.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan‑an said the two facilities the Xinyi Shopping
District were the first top have been built with donations from civic groups.

Two negative‑pressure smoking rooms near the sation are now open.

City Hall says that raised the total number of such smoking rooms in Taipei
to 12 since the first one was opened in Ximending on May 7.

As of August 31, Taipei's designated negative‑pressure smoking areas had
recorded a cumulative 535,258 visits.
