Lai urges child protection priority in Taipei mayoral race
Posted on 2026-09-30 14:58:13
President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) is urging DPP Taipei mayoral candidate Puma Shen
(沈伯洋) to make child protection his top priority if elected.

Lai, who also chairs the party, visited Shen's newly unveiled campaign
headquarters today.

In a written message, he wished Shen victory and called for a focus on caring
for children and preventing abuse.

Lai also encouraged residents to visit the headquarters and share their views.

Meanwhile, Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) says online discussion of his campaign's
new logo is a good thing.

His campaign office launched yesterday under the theme "Taipei Encore."

The geometric design has drawn criticism and inspired memes.

Chiang says the campaign's merchandise was designed for everyday use,
including bottles, caps and a keychain that plays its theme song.
