Taiwan Go Go Front urges changes to election and recall act

A coalition of smaller political parties is calling for candidates' criminal
records to be included in official election bulletins.

The Taiwan Go Go Front is urging lawmakers to amend the Election and Recall
Act during the current legislative session.

The coalition says 129 of more than 1,500 city and county councilor
candidates have either been indicted or received a guilty verdict.

It has also identified candidates for mayor, county chief, and village and
borough chief with criminal records.

New Power Party Chair Claire Wang says voters should have direct access to
the information when deciding how to vote.

The coalition says it is not seeking to prevent anyone from running for
office, but wants voters to decide whether a candidate's criminal record
affects their choice.
