2 indicted after paint, feces thrown at stand-up show mocking Xi Jinping

Taipei prosecutors have indicted two men over an attack on a comedy show
involving paint mixed with human feces.

The Taipei District Prosecutors Office says a 33-year-old man hired a
35-year-old man to throw the mixture at the venue in May, paying him
50-thousand NT.

Prosecutors say the attack came after clips of comedian Huang Yi-hao (黃逸豪)
mocking Chinese leader Xi Jinping went viral online.

They have recommended prison terms of 22 and 20 months for the two men.

Prosecutors say the attack was intended to intimidate Huang and restrict
freedom of speech in Taiwan.

China's Taiwan Affairs Office has dismissed allegations of cross-border
repression as "groundless" ...

... while Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council says it will prosecute anyone
found collaborating with China to threaten or sabotage Taiwan.
