Legislative Yuan rejected all Control Yuan nominees

With the opposition KMT and TPP holding a majority, the Legislative Yuan has
rejected all 27 of President Lai Ching-te's nominees for the Control Yuan.

The vote was clearly divided along the party lines, with most of the nominees
receiving 50 votes in favor from the ruling DPP and 60 against.

The Presidential Office announced a list of 29 nominees for the Control Yuan
in June, with pro-Taiwan independence physician Chen Yung-hsing (陳永興)
nominated as president and outgoing Control Yuan member Wang Rong-zhang (王榮璋)
as vice president.

Meanwhile Chen criticized the blue camp's move as "irrational," saying the
general public should push for an overhaul of the Legislative Yuan.

The list this year also included former New Taipei deputy mayor Xie Zheng-da
(謝政達) and former KMT lawmaker Liao Wan-ru (廖婉汝), both of whom declined their
nominations.
