Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an is urging politicians to base claims on facts,
after reports of possible food poisoning at a local junior high school.

A city councilor claimed that multiple teachers and students at Jinhua Junior
High fell ill after consuming a school lunch featuring squid on Sept. 4-th.

But the city's Department of Education clarified that only one student
experienced diarrhea alongside two unrelated cases of mild discomfort,
confirming no mass food poisoning occurred.

Chiang emphasized that any accusations must be supported by facts, backing
the department's rejection of a reported food poisoning outbreak.

The mayor also defended condolence funds provided to students affected by an
earlier, separate food poisoning case at another school, stressing that
officials immediately fined the vendor and terminated its contract, while
also launching citywide lunch inspections.
