MOTC to Expand Scooter Testing Training

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications is announcing plans to
expand scooter driver training starting next year.

Officials say the changes will add five hours of practical training for light
and standard heavy scooter driving courses starting January 1st, 2027.

The expanded curriculum includes two hours of specialized track maneuvering
and three hours of live road driving instruction.

Authorities also plan to trial actual on-road driving tests for motorcycle
license applicants starting in October 2027.

Officials say training subsidies up to $2-thousand-500 NT will remain
available, emphasizing that practical road experience will better equip new
riders to recognize traffic hazards and navigate complex street environments.
