MOE to Expand Campus Safety

The Executive Yuan approved a three-year $3.6 billion NT initiative Thursday
to expand campus safety personnel in junior high schools.

The Ministry of Education says the program will increase dedicated school
safety officers nationwide from 620 to 2,000 starting in October.

Running through 2029, the initiative will provide up to 90 percent in
government subsidies to help over 900 junior high schools recruit trained
staff.

The staff will assist teachers by responding to classroom conflicts,
conducting security patrols, and handling emergency situations.

And the ministry says training programs for the safety personnel will cover
campus bullying response, drug abuse prevention, emergency protocols, and
legal practices for youth safety.
