Taiwan Raises Minimum Wage for 11th Straight Year

Taiwan's minimum wage will rise for an 11th consecutive year, with the
monthly rate increasing to NT$30,900 and the hourly rate to NT$205.

The Ministry of Labor's Minimum Wage Review Committee approved the increases
today, up from NT$29,500 and NT$196 respectively.

The new rates will take effect next year, pending approval by the Executive
Yuan.

Economic Affairs Minister Kung Ming-hsin says the government is also
considering subsidies for service businesses and traditional manufacturers
that face greater pressure from higher labor costs.

He says the Economics Ministry will work with the Labor Ministry to develop
support measures for businesses that may struggle after the wage increase.

Kung says similar subsidies were previously provided to manufacturers
affected by U.S. tariffs, but this time the support could be expanded to
include service businesses.
