Australian Man Charged Over Alleged Islamic State Propaganda

Australian authorities have charged a 65-year-old man with allegedly pledging
allegiance to the Islamic State group and spreading extremist propaganda
online.

Police say he is the seventh person arrested in Victoria state since May over
the possession or distribution of I-S material.

The man faces charges of being a member of a terrorist organization and
transmitting violent extremist material.

Federal police allege he shared about 10,000 files containing extremist
content between 2015 and 2020.

An investigation began in 2020, when border officials examined his luggage.

The man is due to appear in a Melbourne court.
