Taiwan's military has demonstrated a new domestically developed
105-millimeter mobile gun system in a live-fire exercise for the first time.

The armored vehicle hit moving and stationary targets during the
demonstration at an Army training area in Tainan.

The Ministry of National Defense says the system is designed to provide
continuous firepower against multiple targets and could be used against
amphibious vehicles.

One round initially failed to fire during the demonstration, but the crew
followed safety procedures and the system later fired normally.

Arsenal 202, which developed the vehicle's gun and ammunition, says 178
vehicles are planned, with mass production scheduled to begin in 2027.

The vehicle has been redesigned to make it shorter and more maneuverable,
which officials say makes it better suited to Taiwan's urban areas and
difficult terrain.

The military also plans to add anti-drone capabilities before mass production.
