AI boom prompts ADB to lift Taiwan growth outlook to 11%

The Asian Development Bank has raised its forecast for Taiwan's economic
growth this year to 11 percent, citing a surge in exports linked to
artificial intelligence.

The new forecast is 1.5 percentage points higher than the bank's previous
estimate in July.

The ADB says Taiwan's economy grew 14 percent in the first half of the year,
the fastest first-half growth in 50 years.

Technology exports jumped 65 percent in U-S dollar terms during the first
half, as global demand for AI-related products continued to grow.

The bank expects technology exports and investment in AI infrastructure to
remain the main drivers of growth.

However, the ADB expects growth to slow to 5 percent next year as investment
growth moderates after companies expand their production capacity.

The bank says Taiwan's outlook remains closely tied to the strength of the
global AI investment cycle.
