Truck Crash Causes Major Disruption on National Highway 3

Police are investigating the cause of a truck crash on National Freeway 3 in
Tainan this afternoon ...

... which affected 13 vehicles ... and left four people hospitalized.

National Highway Police say the truck hit the inner guardrail around noon
near the Xinhua System Interchange while traveling northbound.

The truck was carrying bottled beer and rice wine ... which spilled across
both the northbound and southbound lanes.

The southbound lanes were temporarily closed ... causing traffic to back up
for about one kilometer.

Police say the driver was not under the influence of alcohol ... and may have
become distracted before hitting the guardrail.

One lane has since reopened in each direction ... while crews continue
clearing the spilled cargo.
