Chiang aims to promote Bangka with renovations

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an is outlining plans to revitalize parts of Wanhua
... with the aim of encouraging more young people to visit and experience
Bangka.

Chiang says the plans include revitalizing the Xinfu Cultural Market and Dong
San Shui Market ... along with the first phase of the Wanda MRT Line, which
is expected to open next year.

Meanwhile, Chiang has responded to criticism from DPP Taipei mayoral
candidate Puma Shen and others over the city government's handling of
kindergarten child-abuse cases.

Chiang says the city has increased the frequency of inspections ... set up a
special task force for serious child-abuse cases ... and strengthened
reporting and coordination between city departments.

He says the city government is willing to consider further suggestions and
will continue strengthening its child-protection system.
