World leaders meeting for UN General Assembly

In international news,

World leaders are meeting under a global cloud of wars and bitter divisions
for the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.

They're facing new fears that runaway artificial intelligence could threaten
humanity, and more earthly worries that climate shocks and escalating prices
are already making life much tougher for hundreds of millions of people.

The meeting starts on Tuesday and will also be consumed with the major wars
in Iran, Gaza, Sudan, Congo and Myanmar.

Among the headliners will be U-S President Donald Trump and French President
Emanuel Macron.

Both will speak on Tuesday after U-N Secretary-General Antonio Guterres'
opening "state of the world" address.

Ukraine's president and Iran's president will speak on Wednesday, while
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address the assembly on
Thursday.
