Technical Issue Disrupts Flights Across Northern U-K

A technical issue has disrupted flights in and out of Scotland, Northern
Ireland and northern England.

British Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander says the problem has been fixed,
but its effects are expected to continue throughout the day, with flights
canceled or delayed.

NATS - the leading provider of air traffic control in the UK - says the
problem occurred at its air traffic control center in Prestwick, Scotland.

Airports south of Manchester are broadly unaffected.

NATS says the disruption is unrelated to a software problem two weeks ago
that led to more than 2,000 flight cancellations.
