Shih Cheng-chung wins men's karate bronze at Asian Games

In news from the world of sport...

Taiwanese karate athlete Shih Cheng-chung (石政中) has won bronze in the men's
under-67-kilogram kumite at the Asian Games in Nagoya.

The 26-year-old defeated Vietnam's Khuat Hai Nam 9-3 in the match to claim
his first Asian Games medal ....

.... and Taiwan's second karate medal at the meet.

Shih had missed out on a medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, losing in
the bronze-medal bout.

He said he briefly worried history might repeat itself when he found himself
fighting for bronze again in Nagoya.

But Shih said his coach's confidence helped him stay focused and compete
without hesitation.

Shih says he hopes to return at the next Asian Games and upgrade his bronze
to gold.
