Pakistani Jet Fighters Carry Out Airstrikes on Suspected Militant Hideout

Pakistani jet fighters have carried out airstrikes on suspected militant
hideouts in eastern Afghanistan, and claimed 28 militants were killed.

Authorities in Kabul said the strikes killed at least three people.

The attacks marked a renewed escalation between Pakistan and Afghanistan,
raising the prospect of further cross-border hostilities.

They followed Pakistan's warning that it could target militants inside
Afghanistan after recent deadly attacks on its security forces.

Militant attacks targeting Pakistan’s police and security forces have surged
in recent years.

Afghanistan’s government condemned the strikes, claiming they killed
civilians.

Pakistan blamed the Pakistani Taliban and allied groups for most of the
violence.
