Nikkei: Indonesia quake aftermath exposes fault lines in Prabowo's economic

Analysts say, the aftermath of Indonesia's deadliest earthquake in 4 years
has revealed issues in the president's economic plans.

Local officials say that the quake not only killed nearly 130 people, it also
exacerbated funding crises in the country.

Nikkei Asia reports that the quake came at a time that local villages were
absorbing the impact of President Prabowo Subianto's move to cut funds to
regional authorities.

His administration redirected public spending towards his national priority
programs...

like free meals for kids.

Local officials say, the move weakened their ability to provide essential
services.

Despite promises of aid from the central government, rural villages struggle
to access essential supplies and services.
