Premier Cho Jung-tai is telling government agencies to carry out the delayed 2026 central government budget quickly, but lawfully.
The Legislature passed the budget on August 14 and is expected to send the final documents to the Executive Yuan this week.
Cho says that after the budget is formally promulgated, ministries must improve efficiency and complete their projects within the limited time left this year.
He stressed that agencies must follow all legal and administrative procedures, even when work is urgent.
The government is also asking lawmakers to approve a supplementary spending package worth nearly 608 billion NT.
The largest items include funding for state-run oil company CPC, measures to stabilize living conditions amid the Middle East conflict, and spending on defense capabilities and higher military compensation.
