MOL announces wedding leave extended to 14 days

The Ministry of Labor says, wedding leave will be extended to 14 days
starting next month.

This comes after President Lai Ching-te previously announced a slew of policy
changes aimed at upping the birth rate, including increasing time off for
weddings.

The MOL says today that the additional 6 days of salary will be paid by the
government.

Parental leave is also set to increase, while other family-related forms of
leave will also become more flexible.

Under the old rules, most wotkers would get 8 days off for getting married,
to be used within 3 months of their wedding.

Under the new system set to take effect next month, employers will still be
responsible for paying employees' salaries during those 8 days, but the
government will subsidize the additional 6 days after employers pay them out.

MOL officials say, application procedures will be released once the new
policy takes effect.
