A Pingtung county councilor has been released on bail after she allegedly handed out unauthorized COVID test kits to voters.
Zhou Chen Xiao Wen 周陳曉玟and a constitutent representative are being investigated for alleged violation of the Public Officials Election and Recall Act and the Medical Devices Act.
Zhou Chen, an independent, was released on bail of 60,000 NT following searches yesterday.
Prosecutors say, the case began during the last local election cycle in 2022, when Zhou Chen and her alleged accomplice handed out rapid test kits to voters.
Prosecutors say that they're currently working to understand if the case is related or not to that of lawmaker Gao Jin Su Mei.
