A New Taipei borough chief candidate has been released on bail as he's being investigated for vote-buying.
The man, surnamed Chen, was released on bail of 100,000 NT.
Chen is being investigated for allegedly holding an event offering free haricuts, while he also allegedly picked up tabs for douhua for several residents.
Prosecutors say these actions were likely meant to influence the outcome of the election, and they suspect that Chen violated the Public Officials Election and Recall Act.
