China has hit back at a call from the head of AI company Anthropic for the U-S to curb China's artificial intelligence capabilities.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun says fearmongering, confrontation and what he called "vicious competition" will only disrupt global efforts to govern AI.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warned in an essay published over the weekend that a Chinese lead in AI would pose a serious danger to the United States and the world.
U-S President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping are expected to discuss AI governance at a planned meeting on September 24th.
