Hsinchu City Opens 29 New YouBike Stations

Hsinchu City has opened 29 new YouBike stations today ... bringing the number
added this year to 50.

Mayor Kao Hong-an (高虹安) says the new stations connect residential areas with
schools, parks and transportation links ... making YouBike more convenient
for short trips.

Demand has also been growing since the city began subsidizing the first 30
minutes of each ride in April.

About 321-thousand rides were recorded in May ... a monthly record and up 65
percent from a year earlier.

The city says it will continue expanding the network and improving bike
services.

Another 20 stations and 450 electric-assist bikes are expected by the end of
the year ... which would give Hsinchu City more than 185 stations and over
3-thousand bikes.
