In China, a Taiwanese car racing team whose injured driver was rescued by a rival after a horrific crash says it is withdrawing from future events in the country.
The car of British driver Ollie Millroy exploded in flames during a race at the Shanghai International Circuit on Saturday.
Dutch driver Loek Hartog stopped his car and, armed with a fire extinguisher, pulled Millroy from the burning wreckage.
Millroy sustained six broken ribs, a broken collarbone, a broken hand, and a punctured lung, and underwent a four-hour operation.
AAI Motorsports wrote that the event organizers were “grossly negligent in the emergency response and safety rescue arrangements, with serious deficiencies in the rescue response that nearly resulted in a tragedy.”
