Germany challenges genocide claims at ICJ

Now turning to internaitonal news...

Germany is attempting to push back against claims that it is facilitating
genocide in Gaza by supplying arms to Israel.

Nicaraugua accuses Germany of violating the Genocide Convention and
international humanitarian law.

A hearing at the Interional Court of Justice will address whether the court
has jurisdiction.

Although the case centers on Germany, it indirectly accuses Israel of
genocide in Gaza.

Germany has been a stauch supporter of Israel for decades and is its
second-largest supplier of arms... after the US.

Germany previously stopped authorizing exports of military equipment to
Israel that could be used in Gaza but later lifted those restrictions.

The proceedings are the latest legal attempt to rein in Israel’s military
campaign, after South Africa accused Israel of genocide at the same court in
2023.
