North Korea leader Kim Jong Un has put his second naval destroyer into service and called for building a more reliable nuclear deterrent.
The state media report today came as the U.S., South Korea, and Japan were to begin a trilateral military exercise that he views as a security threat.
State media photos showed Kim touring the new warship with his teenage daughter, whom South Korea's spy service views as his likely heir.
Both this ship and the first one, which was put into service in June, are 5,000-ton destroyers that state media said can carry various conventional and nuclear weapons.
They are considered North Korea’s biggest and most advanced warships.
Experts say they were likely built with Russian assistance.
