The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says, a visiting group of members of a
Japanese opposition party is scheduled to meet with the president and other
senior government officials.

Discussions will focus on the latest developments in bilateral realtions and
in the Indo-Pacific as a whole.

The group of lawmakers from the Japan Innovation Party will meet with
President Lai Ching-te, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung, lawmakers, officials
from the National Security Council, and members of the Taiwan-Japan Relations
Association.

MOFA says that the party, which is a coalition partner of the ruling Liberal
Democratic Party, has long maintained a Taiwan-friendly stance.

They note that the party donated over 190,000 US dollars to Taiwan after the
2024 Hualien earthquake.

The visit is the first since the party's leader signed a coalition agreement
in October with LDP leader and later Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
