Chinese Lawyer Flees to Taiwan After Defending Underground Church

A Chinese lawyer who defended an underground church in Beijing has fled to
Taiwan and is seeking help to resettle.

Ruth Wang, a partner at VDoor Law Firm, has faced increasing pressure from
Chinese authorities.

Her firm has represented pastors and members of Beijing's Zion Church since
October 2025.

Zion Church is one of China's largest unregistered house churches, which
operate outside the official state-controlled religious system.

Wang says Chinese authorities threatened to shut down her law firm unless she
dissolved it.

Her case highlights continued pressure on underground churches and those who
defend them in China.
