MOEA approves Lam Research's 9.8 billionNT investment

The Ministry of Economic Affairs yesterday approved a 9.8 billion NT
investment by US semiconductor equipment supplier Lam Research.

Lam Research will invest the money in its Taiwan subsidiary to support
research, development, and design operations for critical equipment used in
advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes.

The ministry's Investment Commission approved a total of 6 major investment
cases, including 2 foreign investments in Taiwan and four overseas
investments by Taiwanese companies.

The other foreign company approved to invest in Taiwan yesterday was Zhen
Ding Technology Holdings, which will invest 3 billion NT in subsidiary
Boardtek Electronics to support printed circuit board research and
development.

Meanwhile, one of the companies approved to invest abroad is the
semiconductor company Nuvoton Technology Corporation.
