Digital ministry teams up with major platforms to fight AI scams

The Ministry of Digital Affairs is working with Meta, Google, LINE and TikTok
to use AI against increasingly sophisticated online scams.

Officials say fraud groups are using AI to generate large amounts of scam
content, prompting platforms to strengthen automated detection and share
intelligence with the government.

The measures include blocking fraudulent ads and fake accounts, tightening
checks on high-risk users and issuing warnings for suspicious messages and
links.

Meta says it removed 10.9-million scam ads in Taiwan between March 2024 and
mid-July this year.

LINE says it has also taken action against more than 142-thousand accounts
linked to fraud since November 2024.
