U.S. strikes Iranian launchers on Larak Island

U.S. forces have struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island, marking the
first known American attack on Iran since late July.

A U.S. official says Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces were preparing to
launch rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran says the strike killed and wounded several soldiers and civilians, and
has vowed to respond.

A U.S. source cited by Fox News says Iran later launched missiles at American
forces in Jordan, with nearly all of them intercepted and no significant
damage reported.

The latest escalation comes six months into the Iran war, which has disrupted
shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and contributed to a blockade of a
route that previously carried about one-fifth of the world's oil supply.
