Taiwan startups look to global stage

Taiwan has wrapped up its 2026 Startup World Cup final in Taipei, selecting a
team to represent the nation at the global competition in San Francisco.

The event is organized by Pegasus Tech Ventures, with a 1 million US-dollar
investment prize at stake in the global final.

Pegasus business development director Justin Jackson says the competition is
designed to connect entrepreneurs around the world with Silicon Valley.

Jackson says more than 200 international companies will compete at the grand
finale, with multiple teams from Taiwan taking part.

Meanwhile, Michael Kao (高志明), chairman of TINVA, says Taiwan's technology and
America's capital and markets make the two startup ecosystems natural
partners.

Kao adds that Taiwan's startup strengths include AI, biotech and deep
technology -- and events like this can help young companies reach investors
and customers overseas.
